When She Loves Me
When she’s happy, she tells me she loves me so much. She calls me her mama-doodle and says I’m the best girl in the world. She stops everything because there is nothing more important to her than to give me a hug. The sun shines bright, the stars twinkle, a gentle wind blows across the grassy fields; the birds sing beautiful songs.
When she’s upset, she says she is going to turn me into a frog. She wishes for me to go to my room; and for my bed to disappear forever. She sits on the floor and takes everything out of all the drawers. She tells me she doesn’t love me but she probably will again the day after tomorrow, so I don’t need to be too sad. I tell her that’s okay. We all know how confusing love can be.
