Sunrise Mornings
When I look up most mornings, early enough, I can see the sky's bright sunrise colors all flow into each other. I can see my breath in the air and frost glisten on the grass. This time of year, I can watch how geese form their flying V's after they've rested in the back fields from days of flapping; that is quite the site in itself. I can hear chickens dive bomb to the ground as they unroost for the day; and roosters crow over and over. And over again. I often jump on the tree swing that Joe made and watch Princess Umbrella and Blitz race each other between the split rail fences. These are some of the quietest, calmest, and most surreal moments I have learned to take in each day. They don’t last long.
It might sound funny but it took me some time to be able to do this: to actually just be still long enough to appreciate what's around me. I’ve come a long way. But now, these quick and quiet moments of the morning stop me in my tracks every time.
