Chapter 13
Thirteen is a tricky number. Fridays are scared of it; hotel floors ban it; and bakers give it away for free. Perhaps the thirteenth year of marriage is supposed to be twisty, too.
Maybe it’s the year where we know that love is patient; and kind. But understand it sometimes doesn’t feel like either of those. When we know that love is not proud; nor does it easily anger. But understand sometimes it feels like it is and it does. Sometimes.
But, above all, in our thirteen years, we also know that love can and will endure all things; if you let it. We know that love bears; hopes; and perseveres all things; if you believe in it. Love is greater than luck. Always. Even when the number is that tricky thirteen.
Here’s to 13 years together of marriage adventures; and here’s to many more.
