Beat a Strong Heart
February is Heart Health Month. <3
When I was in school studying to become a registered dietitian, I remember learning how to "Take Care of Our Heart" from a nutrition and lifestyle standpoint. I still have most of my notes scribbled with words from my professors. Sometimes, I wrote so fast and with such fierce determination, my pen would begin to smoke on my paper! Whoa.
I was thinking about my own heart and what I've learned through my studies, working with clients, and through life experiences. If I was asked to sum it all up, here's what I'd share with the world:
-Eat mostly wholesome nutrients of colors and fibers. -Go outside. Breathe. -Keep a trusty water bottle with you like it's your sidekick; treat it as you would a good friend: fill it up often; allow it to hydrate you; and keep this continuous practice of care going. -Go outside. Breathe. -Write down the words of your favorite quote. Stick those words in multiple places to read each day. -Go outside. Breathe. -Take a walk. Do a few somersaults. Move. -Spend time connecting with the people who listen and make you laugh. -Sleep. -Go outside. Breathe. -Life is going to throw in some zigs and zags along the way, remember, in those moments, just how strong that heart of yours is; and believe in it.
May you beat your heart strong with health and happiness.
