Eggs

It was a big day on the farm yesterday. We have eggs!

These chickens have taught us some lessons about putting in work and effort- day in and day out for months- without necessarily “getting” anything immediately in return. Sometimes that's tough to grasp when you're a kid- and, well, to be honest, that can be tough for grownups to understand sometimes, too. What a sneaky way to teach about patience; trust and believing whole-heartedly in a process that you dedicate yourself to do. Those crazy chickens!

These past few months of moving and changing our lives up a bit has not come without it’s challenges. There’s been fence posts and trees falling, a tractor stalling, fly swatting, weeds growing, deep breathes, early mornings, late nights, and some tough, muddy love along the way. But I’ll tell you, when the sun sets every night we are filled with the same amount of hope, gratitude and promise that the morning sun rise brings at the beginning of each day. And THAT is not taken for granted.

Here's to all the quiche and egg moments we get to create and gobble with family and friends that come from a bunch of chickens who taught us a few lessons on life.

To my children,

I promise to feed you, water you, and give you lots of sunshine every single day. All that other stuff...well, we will figure it out as it comes along.
