Finding Rainbows
I almost let myself take a punch to the gut. In the middle of a rainy day with a crying two year old; trying to close a trunk full of groceries but instead to have them fall out of my car and onto the ground of the parking lot. That part was okay, I can handle rain, spills and crying two year olds- even all at the same exact time. But it was the guy who walked right by me and said, "Hate when that happens, "and kept on walking that made me pause for a second and bite my lip out of frustration. But just for a second.
He didn't need to help me. Nor should I have expected him to do so. Maybe he was in a hurry; had muffins in the oven; was running from a bad guy; or melts when raindrops hit him. Who knows. But that punch-in-the-gut I almost let myself feel, was just enough of a reminder for me to be the kind of person who carries warm, straight-out-of-the-oven muffins to throw at the bad guys trying to chase people away from helping others who need it the most on a rainy day. So in the end, I’m thankful for that guy.
“When it rains look for rainbows, when it’s dark look for stars.”
